ethernet port not visible on pxi 8196

Hi

i have a pxi rack with a 8196 controller, and alongside various other cards, a single pxi8231 gigabit ethernet card.
i need to use both cards.
However when i look in the network connections section of control panel i can only "see" the 8231.
i've tried all the ideas i can but im stuck now.

can anyone help?

many thanks

Hi slugger,

can you see your 8231 card in MAX? Did you install the driver for it?

nope i cant see it in max

and i believe that it was just put in the rack and no drivers added.

thats not good is it.

at the same time this was done all the pxi cards were moved around the rack and max has never been quite right since then.

reinstall max and start from scratch etc?

ps

when i powered up after the cards had been moved around i had the new hardware detected setups. would this not have re set up all the hardware properly?

many thanks

Hi slugger,

normally you install first the driver or the hardware and add then your card. I think you should try this way.

hmmmm

totally removed the 8231 ethernet card and i still cant "see" the ethernet interface in the 8196 controller.

device manager also lists no network adapter present.

Hi,

Could you try this under a different slot to see if the system can see it?

Thanks,

sorted

was caused by Kontron CP332 graphics card.

when fitted in slot 9 it "stole" the ethernet resources.

moved next to controller and all fine
