Problem with updating MAX v5.5 and third party chassis

Hi, NI Support Staff:

We encountered a problem when we tried to update NI SW on our PXI system. After some tests, we found this looks like a bug of NI MAX v5.5.0f0, v5.4, and v5.3. There is no issue with NI MAX v4.7.  Here comes the summary information:

- The system consists of NI modules and PXI chassis PXIS-2670 from ADLINK. The system originally worked well with NI MAX v4.7 (from NI-HSDIO 1.8.1) and ADLINK PXIS-2670.ini.

- After updating NI MAX v5.5.0f0 (in NiSync3.4.1), it looks like the ini file had been imported into NI MAX. But, after closing and running NI MAX again, ADLINK PXI-2670 "Chassis 1" is replaced by "PXI::1::BACKPLANE". Trigger settings and funcations page are all gone. This issue can be duplicated constantly.

- We also tried NI MAX v5.4 and v5.3. Both versions have the same issue.

- We had tried to roll back NI MAX v4.7 and it work well. Unfortunately we can not use NI MAX v4.7 because some new functions are not suppported with NI MAX v4.7.

There are snapshot photos for your reference in attached file.

Please kindly help to advise possible solutions.

Best Regards,

JJ Fan

I would suggest upgrading your version of PXI Platform Services.  That is the component that is responsible for the 3rd party chassis support in MAX.

Hi, JoshuaP

Thanks for reply.

I tried to uninstall all NI software, then installed PXI Platform Services 3.2.3. The same problem still happened in NI MAX 5.4 (installed with PXI Platform Services).

The only change is the chassis was identified as BACKPLANE directly without restarting NI MAX.

Is there any possible SW update or patches may help to solve this issue?

Best Regards,
