Prg 1520 parallel mode to get (32ch) to (32ch) 4472 chassi 1050?

How do I program the 1520 and use the parallel S/H signals from (32ch) 1520 to (32ch) 4472 in a PXI/SCXI 1050 chassi? (already have the adapter board and cables)

Hello John,

Can you please post the part number of the adapter board and cables? I need to verify which set you have to be able to provide you with the proper tools to program this combination. Are you talking about the NI-4021 Card, the SMB200 cables, and the AUX cable?

Hi Ayman,

I made a slight mistake it is actually a PXI/SCXI 1010  chassi.

But other than that the hardware is the same,
qty=4 SCXI 1520 boards with the parallel adpater feature off the rear panel going to the SMB  connectors (32 connectors on a single panel board that plug into the 1520 chassi back side with 50 ping SCSI type connector)
qty= 16 SMB (1meter) cables
qty=4 PXI 4472
all running from an NI 8176 embedded controller  on Win XP
(we use these because the  4472 have separate A/D per channel to get benefits of fast S/H data)

Any help is appreciated.

John,

The PXI-4472 and SCXI-1520 combination is now supported by the NI-DAQ 7.4. However, I need to know which communicating device you are using to control the SCXI chassis in your PXI chassis. The 4472 does not have digital lines to communicate with the SCXI chassis. I would really appreciate it if you could tell me which device you are using as the communicating device so that I could assist you better.

Ayman,

I guess that is the wraps up the question in one fell swoop.

What is required for communication to the SCXI?
If I put  a DAQ in slot 8 then I can't seem to set up the 1520's for parallel data to tyhe 4472's.

If no DAQ in slot 8 then  I can't access the 1520's at all.

Any suggestions, r ather not have to buy more hardware but will if absolutley requried.

Thanks,

John

John,

You indeed have to have a controling device (E series device, M series or maybe a switch module) in slot 8 to be able to control the SCXI. When you configure your SCXI system, you would select the DAQ in slot 8 to be the controlling device. You will also, have to select the control type as the "PXI backplane". Then you could basically select the Cabling setting for each 1520 module you have in your SCXI system to be parallel and select the corresponding 4472 card. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
