PXI-8186 COM2 TxD level problem

Hi all,

I have a problem with a PXI-8186 controller. After a few months the device connected to the COM2 port failed to startup after power-on. After a search I found that the level from the TXD pin at COM2 is +8V while nothing is send to the port. Normally this should be -8V.

The level from the COM1 port is OK.

When startup the PXI controller (with XP) I see that the level at the TCD pin changes from -8V to +8V during the startup of XP.

When I start a program (a executable from Labview VI) the level goes to -8V and stays there. Communication from this program to the device at COM2 is OK then.

When I quit the application the level at the TXD pin goes back to the +8V.

Strange that this happens after I have been using this controller for several months now.

The controller is part of a test system and is a copy of an earlier build test system. This first tester does not show this problem.

As far as I can see all settings on both systems are the same. Furthermore nothing changed (I think) when this failure popped up last week.

I saw this problem here but with no solution

Does anyone knows this problem and even better has a solution for me ?
