PXI-5673 plays 5dB less than recording

I have two 5663/5673 setups, each working appropriately and as expected except that the 5673's are playing signals 5dB down from what they were recorded at.  For example, a -10dBm recording is played at -15dBm and a -15dBm recording is played at -20dBm.  The cable I am using to route from the PXI to my spec-an accounts for only 1dB of loss.

I'm calculating my full-scale reference level as suggested in the white paper "Introduction to RF Record and Playback" (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/7209/en/ , figure 10).  IQR and carrier frequency are the same on record as they are on playback.  Is there a built-in attenuator somewhere in the system that I am missing?  Is the loss of 5dB on playback an expected characteristic of the 5673 module?
