Can the NI PXI-5671 produce VHF-FM Signals w/ modulation rates < 1 kHz?

Is it possible when using the NI PXI-5671 to generate an VHF-FM signal to use modulation rates below 1 kHz and up to 150 kHz, internally or externally?

If so, how hi and low can the mod rate frequency be set.  the Data sheet only refers to 1 kHz...

Will this Vector Generator accept external modulation inputs?

The PXI-5671 can only use 1 kHz as the modulation rate.

Can you further describe what you mean by accepting external modulation inputs?

Spoiler

BT,

Thanks for responding and yes, I can describe ext. mod inputs.

Typically a BNC input jack (labeled: EXT MOD INPUT) is located on the front or back panel of signal generators that are capable of accepting external AM-FM-Pulse modulation signals.  Again, the BNC(f) connector is an input jack on a signal generator where an external source (in some cases a function generator) output can be connected to introduce a modulation rate (in the case of FM) other than what the signal generator's internal circuitry is limited to. It usually is 1 kHz (mod. rate or tone).  The external mod input typically allows for a greater modulation rate range (below and above 1 kHz) and voltage (level)

BTW: I'm interested in building a PXi system that will emulate three older 19-in rack mountable test instruments.  They are:

IFR 2030 Signal Generator,

Boonton 8201 Modulation Meter

Hewlett-Packard 8904 Multifunction Synthesizer

I'm just not certain there are PXI modules available to replace the functionality of these units?

Thanks for responding.

Thanks for the reply. The PXI-5671 is not capable of external modulation inputs as you are describing. For consultation on getting a PXI system set up that emulates your rack instruments, reach out to our sales engineering team. They will discuss important considerations for your application with you in addition to having a wide knowledge of our offerings that could replace your old set up. You can call (888) 280-7645.

Thanks,

J
