VeriStand support of NI-9467

Does VeriStand 2013 sp1 support the NI-9467 for time synchonization, or can the 9467 just be a passive passenger in a target (synchronizing RT time in the background) along side other VeriStand supported modules?

Also, can the FPGA timekeeper IP be used in either/both scenarios?

Rick

Hello Rick,

Yes, it is possible to use the 9467 with Veristand 2013 SP1, however, the implementation might be a little hairy. Essentially, there are two ways to go about this:

1. With a custom device. There is currently a timing and synchronization custom device that is based off NI Timesync:

https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-29546

It should be a simple matter to get this to use the GPS module as its timesource.

2. Using the FPGA Timekeeper. If you don't want to get your hands dirty with implementing the custom device, it should be possible to just use the FPGA timekeeper API to tell the bitfile how to pull the time from the GPS module and send it through a channel back to the Veristand engine. Then, in the system definition file for Veristand, you could edit the FPGA as the master timesource and specify the time channel from the GPS module as the timekeeper. Feel free to give me some more details and I can help out with the implementation if need be.

Thanks for posting!
