TestStand can't find subVIs with Labview RTE

Solved!
Go to solution

I am able to use the VI you attached in TestStand 2013 when using the auto-detect LV RTE option in the LabVIEW adapter configuration.

However, thinking about this a bit more, there have been some issues that we have fixed with TestStand calling into packed libraries in different versions of LabVIEW. In particular I remember a compatibility problem with LabVIEW 2012 SP1 fixed in the f2 patch.

What version of LabVIEW and TestStand are you using? Do you have all the latest patches for the TestStand version and LabVIEW version you are using?

Both my labview and TestStand are 2010SP1. I don't think I have the patches you are talking about since the version I am using is a littble bit old.

TestStand 2010 SP1 has a known issue (fixed in a patch) that crashes LabVIEW when loading a packed project library:

Please download the patch from http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/3485/lang/en, that might fix the problem Smiley Happy

Hope this helps,

Hi Frank,

Thanks for your reply. I just found my teststand version is 2010 and I can't install the patch since it's for 2010 SP1. Is there any patch for 2010?

Tambrook,

Sorry for the delay in replying, but I have spent a bit of time trying to reproduce the problem and so far I haven't had any luck, even when using TestStand 2010 and only installing the LabVIEW 2010 RTE to run the packed library you created.

As a general rule it is a good idea to keep up to date with patches and service releases (and the upgrades are free for customers who purchased the major release); however, after investigating this I am not sure this would resolve your problem.

You can find information about the TestStand 2010 f1 patch here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9EE0FDA89E6612158625787A006CF5A4 and you can download it from this page: http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/2365/lang/en

Can you think of anything out of the ordinary in your machine that you have not mentioned in the post? I have tried reproducing in a machine with TestStand 2010 and LabVIEW 2010 Run-Time Engine without much luck. Are you able to reproduce in other computers?

Hope this helps,

Francisco
