Allow Containers to be Set/Get by Property Value VIs

Status: New

The "TestStand - Set Property Value" and "TestStand - Get Property Value" VIs do not have containers as an option.

Is this something that can be added?  I can see requiring a cluster input being part of the Set/Get VI that requires the user to match the names/data types of the container.  This is similar to Bundle By Name where you have to provide an input cluster.

PS - While you're at it, please add Array of Containers as well.

Trent,

Thanks for taking the time to direct me to this tutorial.  I checked it out.

It does shed some light on the problem facing devs who want to programmatically create variables in TestStand; however, the issue that lead me to initiate this feature request is not addressed by the article.  I realize now that my idea statement is missing some context so here's the clarification...

I am using this Get/Set By Property VIs to modify existing container variables in TestStand, not create new ones.

The tutorial is incomplete in this sense.  Hopefully it will be revised in the future with some guidance for updating container (cluster) variables.

The need for these particular VIs and associated tutorials belies the general (in)compatibility between LabView and TestStand datatypes.  I am hoping NI announces something like TestStand NXG that has a unified datatype library with LabView NXG.  Ideas like the one I propose would immediately be irrelevant.
