NI Community News

Our goal for 2022 is to transform NI Community into the fastest and easiest collaboration platform for NI Products. To that end, we have simplified the “Start a Topic” page.  All fields are now found in one column, and each has its own header (‘Attachments’, ‘Notifications’, etc.), adding clarity and ease of use.

We have included screen captures below. This change will go into effect early Wednesday morning.

Update on Friday afternoon: While the change is ready to be released, there is an issue getting changes from our development environment into production. The team is fixing that today and we now plan to release this change on Monday, 21 Feb 2022.

• As suggested by wiebe@CARYA , we have implemented a marker on replies when the reply was written by the original author of the topic. Thank you for the suggestion!
• We have implemented an option on Group Hubs to hide the organizers of groups. Group owners can make this selection on the Group Information page.
• For open groups, the selector hides or shows the list on the group overview page.
• For closed groups, the selector hides or shows the list on the 'request access' page. The list of organizers will always show on the group overview page for closed groups.
• We fixed an issue with a misplaced save button on documents in non-English languages.

Yesterday we released a few changes to the software that powers this community

The Example Code Exchange changes that we teased back in October are finally here! This evening we will be releasing a handful of improvements to the Example Code Exchange based on feedback that you all provided to us. As a result of these changes, you will see an impact on existing and new examples. 

The text editor within the NI Community has gotten an upgrade!

The upgraded text editor changes includes:

• Simplified toolbar to easily access the basic styling options
• Better visual display for code samples in posts
• Inline editing to resize or realign an image
• Improved emoji support
• Drag-and-drop images and attachments

The way you upload and view images is getting an overhaul!

With the new image uploader, you can:

• Drag and drop images into the uploader
• Select multiple images at once to upload
• Add captions to be displayed underneath an image
• On mobile, utilize the mobile browser's upload interface

The next phase of our ongoing community renovations is quickly approaching! In November, we'll be performing the migration of the NI User Group Community onto the platform currently used to host the NI Discussion Forums. See the timeline here for more details.

This is a major change that will affect all users and we want to ensure everyone is prepared. Below we have provided some quick updates regarding changes to features and functionality within the NI Community.

We have made some changes that we would like to highlight. We recently enabled our Knights of NI and LabVIEW Champions with the ability to accept solutions on behalf of other users. Marking a reply as an Accepted Solution helps makes the solution easier to find for others who might have the same issue.
