I was wondering if Ultiboard can output CAD data for use in UniCAM? I prefer ODB++ files. Our customer only knows how to output gerber files. I know EagleCAD shareware can output in Fabmaster that works good in UniCAM, so I would assume Ultiboard can do something like that too.

Hi,
Here is a tutorial about Exporting a PCB Design to Mechanical CAD Tools in Multisim, Ultiboard and LabVIEW: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/7635/en/
Please let us know if this helps you.

I'm looking for a way our customer can use to export data from Ultiboard to a format UniCAM accepts. The preferred format is ODB++. I see UniCAM will accept something called ULTI-BRD, but the customer thought that was some old format he can't find in his software. PADS, OrCAD, Mentor, Tango-Pro, there's many different formats UniCAM will accept. I would bet Ulti-Board has a way to output data that UniCAM can use considering UniCAM is the leading CAM software for PCB assembly.

Hello,
I believe UniCAM accepts Gerber files, please correct me if I am wrong.
You can suggest your customer to export Gerber Files from NI Ultiboard: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/6952/en/.

UniCAM has an addon module that will convert gerbers to CAD, but that's an option we don't have. Normally the customer gives us CAD data, if they don't I'm manually coloring in the parts in CorelDraw, and the machines get programmed manually. Looking at the UltiBrd user manual, it doesn't even look like it's capable of outputting the data I need.

UniCAM accepts DXF files? Because you could always try with that type of files.

UniCAM accepts DXF files. I don't know how well they import, but I could have the customer try it next time. Also, I have a centroid importer I could try.

In the part 4 of this tutorial: http://www.ni.com/tutorial/13722/en/ you can check how to export DXF files on ultiboard.
