Text Label on the Top Surface of 3D Shape

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all,

this question my seem silly, but nonetheless I would like to know the answer to it. For most of my parts in the circuit I have to create a custom layout. Besides that I also create a semi-realistic 3D shape representation as per manufacturer's datasheet. This one component has a writing on its top surface, I was wondering if it possible for me to place the text on the top surface of the shape. I can plase the text, but it's not visible when viewing in 3D.

Any comments would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks.

Regards,

Viktar

1. Place the text in Silkscreen layer.
2. Click Show 3D.
3. Click the Layers tab in the Design Toolbox.
4. The  Silkscreen layer should have check mark in a white box.

The text for the show 3D can be place both on a board, and around its limits.

It is possible to place the text on surfaces of a component only at its creation in Part Wizard, but it is very difficult. Or to use other editor of images (for example, PhotoFiltre) after save 3D in BMP or JPG format.
