wireless interfacing

hello everyone.....

we are working on a project which involves the interfacing of labview 7.1 with wi-fi usb adapter. our problem is that we do have the device command set but not the syntaxes  or prototypes of those functions. so we are not able to interface our device with labview. my question is - are we taking the right approach? and if yes can anyone guide us more with it. and if there is some other method of interfacing wi-fi with labview then please help. we are badly stuck in  our project...

thanks so much...

Hi,

What kind of Wi-Fi adapter are you using?  Are you connecting to it via USB Raw VISA commands, or can you use the TCP/IP VI's?  Where are you getting the device command set and functions? Are the functions distributed in dll's?

Generally, if you have a wireless adapter that can connect to a network, you should be able to use the TCP/IP or UDP commands in LabVIEW to communicate through the adapter to the rest of the network.  Check out the LabVIEW example programs in the example finder.  Navigate through the example hierarchy to All Examples>>Networking>>TCP & UDP.  That set of VI's may get you started down the right track.

Finally, you may get more traffic on this thread if you posted it in the LabVIEW forum.  The topic of this thread has nothing to do with multifunction DAQ.

Cheers,

duplicate post. Its considered impolite to post the same question to multiple forums. Especially to a forum where the question does not apply.
