USB protocol of the USB-6001

Hi,

I've got a USB-6001, and would like to use it under Linux, preferably with the comedi library. Apparently for now neither the NI DAQmx (base) driver nor comedi support this device. All I could find was a special version for the raspberry PI, but as it's not open source, it only works on ARM processors.

Recently, the support for the USB-6501 was added to comedi (cf http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/drivers/staging/comedi/drivers/ni_usb6501.c). If the protocol is similar, it would be very easy (for me) to add support for the USB-600x .

Do you have a document describing the USB protocol of the USB-6001?

Thanks

Hi Pieleric,

I haven’t been able to find the protocols for the USB-6001. Could you try adding the support for the comedi library and just see if it works as expected? There is a chance the protocols are the same.

Unfortunately the USB DAQ Device series are still unsupported in Linux: http://www.ni.com/product-documentation/3695/en/

However you could try the most up to date DAQmx Base drivers (if you haven’t already), although the USB-6001 is not listed as supported on this:

http://www.ni.com/download/ni-daqmx-base-15.0/5644/en/

Sorry I couldn't help further.
