Ni 9234 breakdown

Hi!

I have 3 modules NI 9234 and 4 channels (distributed through the 3 modules) did not answer anymore. Which channel corresponds to an accelerometer installed in a stay of a cable-stayed bridge. Some of the accelerometers are located approximately 200 meters from the cDAQ-9188.

I tested the different channels of the modules and I verified that no power is supplied to the sensor (the output voltage is 0) and apparently the amplifier is working normally.

So, I would like to ask the fowling questions:

  • What could be the possible reason for a breakdown/damage of this nature? Could it be caused by an electrical discharge? (the bridge where all the system is installed have a lightning conductor)
  • What are the actions that I should take to avoid future similar breakdown?
  • What are the repair costs?

Thank you very much for your attention!

Hello Brosandi,

The lightning conductor could be the source of your problem.

- Have you tried to connect another C Serie Module on you chassis to test if it's the cDAQ (D Sub) or the C Serie Module which got an issue?

- The repair cost depends of the Hardware involved.

If you want a suitable hardware for your environment, please contact the sales department. They will advise you.

Kind regards.
