NI9218 12V Excitation using USB (w/o External Power Supply)

Hi

we will use the NI9218 DAQ Module for a pressure sensor that needs an excitation of something between 9...35V. I want to use the 12V excitation of the module, but the "Getting Started Guide" says:

To use the 12 V excitation, connect a 9 VDC to 30 VDC power supply to Vsup

As the sensor takes appr. 6mA the total power consumption of the module would be around 1W.

Is it possible to only use the USB connection to provide the power? Not using the voltage supply would ease our modification significantly.

Thanks and regards,

Jan

Another USB plug and a 5V to 12V DC-DC converter?

What chassis is the 9218 in? Single slot USB cDAQ (cDAQ-9171)? Or something bigger?
