NI USB-7855R AO maximum current drive

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi!

I'm looking for maximum current drive on AO of NI USB-7855R.

In user manual http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/375943a.pdf

There is "Minimum current drive ±2.5 mA" on page 6, Is it mistake (maximum) ?

Is this value for 1 independent channel or maximum load on all outputs ?

thanks a lot!

Hi IIvan,

I am going to research this and verify what the correct values should be. I will update this as soon as I can.

IIvan,

As an update, you can consider this as a maximum since the device could be used with lower currents and the value represents the current driver per channel and is not an aggregate.

Thanks a lot!

Only to clarify yours answer:

Thus since analog outputs are independent, I can connect 2 of them together, and I will get same output speed (1Msps) (fpga's benefits) with twice maximum current output (+- 5mA).

Is it right ?

Essentially this specification means that if you have multiple circuits/loads connected to each channel, they can each drive that amount of current. Some devices specify the total allowed current for all of the lines, so exceeding this on one line will drive the rest lower. If you require more current than the device can supply, I would recommend looking into addtional circuitry other than the device to amplify or source that current.
