NI-USB 6501 Not Recognized

I am attempting to install my NI USB-6501 onto a PC running Windows XP.  I already have labview installed, and after installing the NI-DAQmx Base software, the Datalogger software does not recognize the DAQ.  Also, the LED on the DAQ simply blinks, and the PC itself does not recognize the DAQ as an USB device.

Hello jeffjacob,
NI-DAQmx 7.5 now supports the USB-6501, as well as the USB-6008/9.  You no longer need to use NI-DAQmx Base.  I would suggest downloading and installing NI-DAQmx 7.5.  After you have done that, you might need to run a quick utility to allow the device to be used with NI-DAQmx.  In Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX), go to tools>>NI-DAQmx Configuration>>NI-DAQmx USB Driver Selector.  Select your device, click switch, then choose NI-DAQmx.  You might need to close and re-open MAX, but then you should see your device under Devices and Interfaces>>NI-DAQmx Devices.
