How to control a solenoid valve with PCI 6289

I have a 2 way 12 VDC NC Valve that I want to control with PCI 6289. Which Module would I need to connect the valve so that I can write a DO value from Labview. I have a CB 68LPR. Is it capable of DO?  and how do I map the connection to a specific DO line on the PCI 6289 in order to create a DAQmx task?

Thanks

PCI-6289 has 48 DIO channels (bidirectional), therefore you should be able to perform DO. Also PCI-6289 would work with CB-68LPR, however not the best choice, as you can see here in the compatibility chart:

Group 1: VHDCI 68-Pin Multifunction I/O 62xx Models Device And Module

NI suggests you to use a newer design SCB-68A Screw Terminal Block together with a shielded SHC68-68-EPM Cable.

Is the DO of PCI 6289 capable of driving 3 such valves? I remember reading somewhere that the DC on state is 5 volts and the valve requires a12 volts and 15W power which equates to 1.25A current. I was thinking I should use a relay to provide that voltage and control the relay with the DO of DAQ. What do you think about it?

Here are the specs of PCI-6289

According to p.9/19 you are correct that DC provide 5V TTL. I cannot comment on the valve requirements as I don't know exactly what you are using, nevertheless I would advise you to check its specs as well and then compare it to the PCI-6289's.

There are some similar topics on the forum where relay has been utilized to provide higher voltages. Some examples are:

I think it is possible. But probably NI would not support it as it not the intended way of using the card. Best strategy would be of course to get a new and appropriate card for your application.
