External clock in USB 6361

I want to synchronize (sample to sample) my ni-6361 based device with an external device that will send me a sample clock to one of PFI port on USB-6361.

Do I just need to set source at Timing.vi to a specific port and that's all? External clock would be 10 or 20 MHz, and I want 2 MHz rate (maximum possible on 6361), but this is not a problem as I think.

Is there anything I need to know or it is just so simple to do? 🙂

Dide,

So your external clock that you want to sync your DAQ card with is 10MHz or 20MHz, is that correct? If you want to use an external clock as a sample clock it's pretty straigforward (example here). However that external clock has to be at the rate of your desired acquisition, so it can't be higher than the max sampling rate for the card.

If your clock is at 10MHz then you could use it as a reference clock and then the timebase on the DAQ card will 'lock' to that reference and you would have your synchronization.
