Can an input voltage of 13V make a DAQ6042E card fail?

Our card failed suddenly and we had it replaced but not knowing what caused the problem, we are concerned that the same will happen to the new one. We noticed high voltages (~13V) on some of the unused channels, probably due to grounding problems. The card seems to chop the signal, but can it still be damaged by it if it is exposed for long?

Are you talking about the 6024E card? For an E Series DAQ card, the maximum common mode voltage is 11V. Since most cards have 20-40V overvoltage protection, this should not damage the DAQ card, however, it will lead to unpredictable and possibly inaccurate readings with the DAQ card. To make accurate differential readings, an isolation amplifier needs to be placed between the power supply measurement, and the DAQ card, to isolate the common mode voltage.
