Tension machine EscoTest 20/Baldor Motor and NI cards

Hello everybody,

We are a group of students working on the tension machine EscoTest, which has the baldor motor.

We are new to this field and our task is to choose the appropriate NI card for controlling this motor + use LabView for viewing the acquired data on appropriate graphs.

However, we feel a little lost with all the NI card for data acquisition that are manifactured, and we don't need which one is the most appropriate for our case.

We need basically a NI card that can allow, in addition for DAQ, to control the speed of the motor in order to create a variation of speed of tension over time.

We thought about NI 9502, do you think it is appropriate for our project? or do you any other suggestion?

Details about the motor:

Manifacturer: Baldor

Cat. NO: 5D25-30-A1

MFO Code: 4793665

Torque, stall: 3.39 NM

Max speed: 3500 // Max Voltage: 180 // Voltage const.: 43.0 // current const.: 9.17A // current peak: 35.8 A // Insulation CLASS F 25°

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Is it a brushless or a DC motor.

The 9502 is only for brushless motors.

Please find this link that will help you choosing the right device

In addition, you can contact your NI local branch to ask for some advices.

First of all,

I would like to thank you for your time and answer.

Baldor motor is brushless, and we are wondering if we need to use a motion stepper between the motor and the NI card.

In addition, our first task is the implementation of a labview application for viewing graphs of tension tests done on this machine, but we have problems understanding how nature of the signals that go our of the NI card and what they mean.

If you could help with some additions detailed links about NI, we would really be thankful.

By the way, we are in Morocco, and there is no local branch for NI company, so our only way is to go through France branch.

Thank you again for your valuable answer and time.
