PCI-7344 Homing on continouse rotational axis

I am trying to calibrate a rotating axis that does not have any physical stops but I need to know where I am at on the 360 degrees I am working with. It seems that all limit and home inputs actually stop the axis which means that motion will stop at that point even when I don't want it to. I have a fair amount of rotating mass so I don't want it to stop when it hits the switch but I need a switch there to give me some frame of reference for calibrating where I am on the wheel. Typically a home indicator does not kill the axis. So I am looking for a work around. Tech support has suggested using a read captured position but that is looking like a hair ball to implement. I guess I could put a relay in series with the switch and then open the relay when I am done homing.

Ok I think I have it figured out. I can enable the home limit input then calibrate the axis then disable the home limit so the axis can rotate freely.
