No VI's in Motion, PCI-7324

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi guys,

I've installed NI Motion 15.0 as well as NI Motion Assistant 2.8 on my machine running LV 2015, however no VI's are showing up in the Motion/Vision toolbox.  NI Motion opens fine on its own.

Any ideas?

Also, I've purchased an older PCI-7324 4-axis controller as well as a MID-7604 4-axis driver.  Hoping these will play nice, even in LV 2015?

Thanks!

Did you activate these options (screenshot of french version) when you installed NI-Motion ?

Hi JB,

Thanks for the response, and for taking time to dig in and grab a screen cap!

I believe I have both properly installed, as going back to the install manager has the option of leaving them installed, or removing them (see attached).

That said, it has brought to my attention that the Motion installer only has the option for 32-bit LabView, however I run 64-bit LV2015, as well as 64-bit Vision, and have no interest in running 32-bit!  Is there a 64-bit installer for Motion, or is Motion actually not compatible with 64-bit LV??

Thanks again!

This does not look promising.. http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9031D3D402DA8BE68625783900809DCC.

Does this mean I actually have to uninstall LV64-bit and install a 32-bit version on a brand new i7-4790, in the year 2015?  My phone is 64-bit:P

Hey,

I was unable to follow the link you posted, but I did find in the NI Motion 15.0 readme, it says, "NI-Motion is compatible with 32-bit LabVIEW only. Therefore, you must have 32-bit LabVIEW installed even if you use a 64-bit OS."

http://download.ni.com/support/softlib//Motion/NIMotion/NIMotion2015/NI-Motion%20ReadMe.htm

You can have both versions of LabVIEW installed on the same computer, so you would not have to uninstall 64-bit from your computer. However, you will need to reinstall NI Motion, as it needs to be installed after the LabVIEW environment it's going to be used in.

Correct-- it would appear it is not possible to run Motion in a 64-bit LV.  http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9031D3D402DA8BE68625783900809DCC

Installing LV 32-bit and reinstalling Motion did result in the VI's appearing.

Although this is the solution, it's not a great one by far.  Perhaps NI could weigh in on when we can take advantage of Vision 64-bit, LV 64-bit AND Motion!
