Motion Control CM1-23L 20C motor

I am an undergrad studying Mechanical Engineering. I need to control the motion of the CM1-23L 20C motor which is then converted into a linear motion using a rack and pinion gearing system. The motor is manufactured by Muscle Corporation. I need to use labview interface for the motion control process.

I don't know how to begin.

Any help would be appreciatedSmiley Happy

Hi nirajg,

We need some more information to be of any help. What kind of motor drive are you using? What hardware are you using to interface with the drive? Is your LabVIEW program running on a PC or some other controller?

Do you already have this hardware or does your question include how to drive the motor in general?

Hi,

Muscle Corp's website mentions that the CM1 is an integrated servo AC system. The system incorporates the motor, controller, driver and the encoder in one package. It also mentions that the option to interface with the CM1 system from a PC is through a RS-232C port available. You can send ASCII commands to control it. So, in order to be able to control it with LabVIEW you will need a serial interface and use VISA serial VIs to send commands to the CM1 system.

Here is a couple of links to a basic example for serial communication using LabVIEW and forum related to it.

Make sure to contact the provider for a list the list of the commands needed.
