7342 motion card velocity accuracy

[ Edited ]

Hi All,

Is there anyone kind enough to answer the following questions.

Hardware info:

PCI-7342 motion card

UMI 7764 break out box

9000 ppr quad encoder (Heideman RON 225)

Mavilor Mss-4 brushed motor

Mavilor MQC servo controller

1) After tunning my system i still get a following error of approx 1500 counts at 1000RPM and 300 counts at 50RPM. Does this seems excessive in terms of a general system setup. It does not prevent my system from running once i update the default value but i am noticing a very poor velocity regulation.

2) With the above hardware should it be possible to have this system running with a velocity accuracy of +/- 0.1RPM? The step response of my system looks good but does not give the accuracy in velocity i want.

3) I am trying to confirm the number of counts my encoder outputs through MAX. However the encoder counts section is greyed out when setup to run in servo mode. Why is this? Can i use the stepper mode just to check encoder counts?

4) I know my velocity problems are coming from the motion card because i replaced the motion card with a simple potentiometer circuit and i got excellent velocity accuracy.

Thank You
