error creating a new virtual channel, "sorry that name is illegal"

im trying to create a new virtual channel. When i enter a new name for the channel name i keep getting the error "Sorry, that name is illegal. Hit f1 for help on channel naming conventions" no matter what name i enter.

That is very strange. Have you experienced any other problems in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)? Which version of NI-DAQ are you using?

Thanx for the reply. This is the only problem that i've had with max. The version of NI-DAQ that i installed was version 6.9.2. Any help on this would be great.
