Simple DI using PCI-6503 and CW DAQ controls

I need a bit of hand holding...

I am trying to do some simple digital input using a NI-6503 (24 Digital
Line) card. I need to monitor 2 lines, at >= 2 KHz. The documenation for
the PCI-6503 shows that it has a mode (Mode 0) where no handshaking is
neccessary. I have only wired up the 2 lines (Bit 0 from Port 'A' and Bit 0
from Port 'B') using standard TTL
signals. I can observe through the PCI-6503 test panel that the signals are
arriving with the correct polarity
and rate to the card.

I would like to use the Componentworks DAQ Active X controls in Visual C++
to do my monitoring software. I can import the controls into my Visual C++
project just fine. My problem is I don't have a clue on how to fill out
the
properties of the DI control to fire events either when the line state
changes, or if not that, at a 2 KHz or greater rate. Anybody familiar with
filling out the properties of the DI control for this seemingly simple task?
