Ok, that KB article was very helpful. Thank you. Unfortunately, the tasks created in MAX and C# have the same issue. You can only have one task per 6535 device. I found another forum post related to this issues and it discusses the timing channel requirements for DIO.  Bottom line is one task per device at a time. Very unfortunate.  The task configuration allows you to specify the timing clock. The choices are internal, external or change detection.

The test panels DO NOT have this limitation. I don’t know what they use for clock timing or for sampling. It’s not clear whether its continuous or repeated samples.

That’s really the answer I need. How to have multiple tasks per 6535.

Any DIO device will be able to run two tasks concurrently: one generation task and one acquisition task.  There's really no way around this as the cards are not designed to do any more.

The test panels in MAX just combine all of the channels into one generation and one acquisition task.
