Read avi files not created in labVIEW per frame

Hi everyone,

I want to read an .avi file not created in labview per frame. (see attached picture for .vi and error code)

Is is possible to read the frames?

I have been able to find another forum post which addresses this issue:

Try the workaround described in this forum.

I don't get it, do I have to download ffdshow (I don't know anything about codecs)? How does that program work, is there an easier way to read the frames? I found a way, thank you for your help
