i'm working on a project where i have to measure some parameters of an optical waveguide. For example i'm interested in the number of fibers or their distribution. For this task i use the IMAQ particle analysis VI but my input image is far away from optimal. After several filtering and image processing tries the fibers in the binary image are still touching. When I choose another parameter set in my simple algorithm then I miss some fibers or they get holes.
I've attached the image that comes right off the camera. Now i need ideas how to get a binary image which contains all of the fibers but none of them are touching so i can perform particle analysis.
