PCIe-1429 camera files for work with Basler spL4096-70km line camera

Hi, please help with configuring my frame grabber.

Can I find camera files for PCIe-1429, working with Basler spL4096-70km line camera ?

now generating it with NI Camera File Generator, but when checking image with MAX -

getting error if configuring with 4096 pixels,

no error if with 2048, but! I want to get the full resolution (camera

has 2 segments of 2048 pixels, 12 bit pixel depth).

Settings snip attached - please help - what is wrong? (I'm new here )

Thank you,

Sveta

I would download the icd file from NI, which has already been tested.  No reason to create your own.  It also has the serial commands built in.

I think you set up the taps wrong.  I am using a similar Basler camera, and the taps alternate every pixel (1212121212121212) not on sides (111111111122222222) like you have it.  I also think it is taps 1 and 2, not tap 3.

Hi Bruce,

thank you for answer, the reason I'm trying to generate file is that camera file i found on NI site:

http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nipc.product?pid=11075&asid=1102

is for PCIe-1433 and PXIe-1435,

and I have PCIe1429.

still in trouble , even with interlaced settings.

I would start with the existing icd file and just copy the section for the 1433 or 1435 and rename it 1429.  I would assume it would be almost identical and just require minor tweaks instead of starting from scratch.

Hi Bruce,

This is Amitai from National Instruments Israel,

Allow me to enter this conversation.

Since you have a similar camera and working, I will be happy to get advises from you in order to help Sveta.

I have contacted Sveta today, and used remote desktop connection to try your suggestion and others.

We have used the Basler Vision Technologies spL4096-70km camera file -

http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nipc.product?pid=11075&asid=1102

and we have changed the "InterfaceInfo" manualy in the text file, and reciceved the error : #0xBFF60056 Requested attribute is invalid.

We then followed this KB - http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/9757373FEE86D64B862573CA004FD752?OpenDocument

and edited the "Supported Image Acquisition Devices" to PCIe-1429.

See cameraSettings.jpg file attached.

You can also see in the file, that the "PCIe-1429 Full configuration Camera Link" is grayed out.

I am wondering why  ... is it because this is the only frame grabber that is connected to the PC ? or is it because there is some issue with this frame grabber and this camera attributes ?

Following your advise earlier in the post, we chose the "2 tap interlaced vertically" Orientation.

We had success when setting smaller Acquisition windows (for example 800x1024 or 512x2 see jpeg attachments) and when we tried to reach the camera attributes 4096x2 (http://www.baslerweb.com/products/sprint.html?model=253) we got an acquisition timeout notification.

see time-out.jpg attached.

The NI-PCI-1433/5 has a 850 MB/s of bandwidth while the NI-PCIe-1429 has 680 MB/s of bandwidth.

Sampling 2x4096 (which is the camera attribute that Sveta is trying to achieve) at 12-bit per pixel and with 55 fps equals 680MB/s.

Do you think the bandwidth difference can be the issue ?

Is this camera compatible with the PCIe-1429?  I assumed it was and that the camera file just didn't include it.  If the 1429 can't handle the camera throughput there is nothing you can do to fix it.

I just assumed you had to copy the configuration to get it to work.  I don't know if it will actually work.  I am using a different card that doesn't use the icd file.  I just knew the taps were alternating from my camera.

Sveta,

I was about to send the escalation, and I have found this -

http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/nipc.product?pid=8193&asid=1102

This Camera file is older - for IMAQ 3.7 but can work. this is a bit confusing that it is "70k" and not "70km".

Please check if it works.

If it does, I will contact the Web content in NI.com and see what we can do with this confusement.
