I've purchased two separate USB cameras, and turns out they both use the IMX179 CMOS sensor: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WFQOTM2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage
and

I tried on two different Macs, and on a virtual Windows 7 using Parallels. In programs such as VLC, Skype, and Photo Booth, the camera is recognized - I can choose between the Macbooks built-in FaceTime camera, or the 8MP camera. But the 8MP view is either all green, or nothing shows up. With many other USB cameras (5MP or lower), I've had no problems.
Any ideas on how to get it to work? Does anyone know of a more suitable program I should use to get input from USB cameras?

Hello,
Can you let me know if you are interested in use this cameras in LabVIEW or are you using the National Instruments driver IMAQdx?
I honestly had never work with this camera, however since is an USB 2.0, it should be compatible with the IMAQdx driver that is part of the vision acquisition software:

Also here is a document stating the difference between IMAQ and IMAQdx:

Can you also show me some pictures of the "green" images that you are getting and also of the software you are using?

In LabVIEW, but first I need it to work with the computer, right?
The green looks exactly like the green here:

(except its on a phone in the picture)
The software I have tried with it are: skype, VLC, photo booth.

Yeah if the camera is not workng on Windows is not going to work on LabVIEW. Have you tried to contact the camera manufacturers?

Yes and they tried to help by sending drivers, but said that windows should download the drivers automatically anyways. And actually one manufacturer sent another camera, but it behaved the same way. And it should have worked on mac without having to download anything. But it didn't work on either. 😞
Perhaps it needs more power? I tried using a cheap external USB hub that got its power from the wall outlet. I thought that would be able to supply more amps, but maybe it was a lower ower USB hub and maybe i should try another one that can supply more amps.

I recommend you to use a usb port and not HUB. Also have you try to test the camera in another PC?
