I am a beginner in labview. i have been trying to make a VI that captures an image at a time using imaqdx.snap. but it gives a black(blank) image in return. i checked the camera result using NI MAX , where snap fuction gives black image in display but grab function works perfectly fine. I have already tried unistalling vision acquisition software and reinstalling it.

Fary,
What type of camera are you using? Knowing the manufacturer, model and bus type would be very helpful.

It would help if you could try the code in the following example: https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-3587
I'm curious to see if the first frame of the resulting .avi is blank.

But I guess I problem is with the system I am using. Because I have windows 8 and the laptop is not compatible with win 8. And people having it runnig it on windows xp, have their snap function working perfectly fine. And drivers of this system for windows 8 are not available.
