Computer Lens Distortion Model

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi all

When you calibrate the image on NI Vision Builder, I would like to ask what is the use of a "computer lens distortion model". What is it for? It's an option which is ignored when measurements are taken from the image, for example, of a component.  What happens when you switch it on or tick it?

Thanks

based on lens that you installed for ccd for imaging your lens have some optical Aberrations  there is 6 type of such Aberrations you can study more about it

there   one of this Aberrations is   Distortion  in this case data in image area deformed and are not real because of lens optical defeat

so if you use this image for example for distance measurement you will be fail to get real data and first you have to correct the image

for correction of image you use grid with same size and distance and ofter that there is polynomial formula with k1, k2 , k3 coefficients to solve this problem

also some famous lens have there own k1 k2 and k3 coefficients that was calculate by company that produce them you can use them to do that

for more information about it you can check photoshop tools
