From Friday, April 19th (11:00 PM CDT) through Saturday, April 20th (2:00 PM CDT), 2024, ni.com will undergo system upgrades that may result in temporary service interruption.
We appreciate your patience as we improve our online experience.
We have a system with Lookout and feildpoint I/O on 2 separate com ports. We get the following error messages intermittently.
'Channel specific error: dev:004 ch:00 err:2 '
'FP error: Addressed module does not exist'
The modules have not changed since the iak file was built and we know the configuration is correct as it works most of the time. Also, we have two separate feildpoint networks on separate com ports and when feildpoint 1 fails with the above message the second feildpoint fails and the whole system fails for a few minutes.
This system is a test rig and the above situation trips the safety conditions on all test rigs on the system thus negating long term tests.
The error 'Addressed module does not exist' does not reference which module it thinks is non existent so we have no starting point for diagnosis. We have swapped the FP1000 module but that has made no difference.
David, The system is telling you which module does not exist. The channels that are losing communication is Device 4 (e.g. the module at address 4), Channel 0. The alarm information should also indicate which FieldPoint Oject is generating the message which allows you to further isolate the problem.
I would recommend that you check to make sure that the FieldPoint module at address 4 is properly seated in the terminal base. Additionally, make sure that the terminal base is firmly connected to the bases adjacent to it.
