open ethernet connection

Hi all,

     My company had always used RS 232 to connect with many devices throught openCom cvi function, nowadays i had to  connect with a device through RJ45

     can this function support this?

    i used this fuction for my rs232 as following "OpenComConfig (portCom, "", 19200, 0, 8, 1, 512, 512)!=0) "  (exemple).

    i had heared about  virtual com. but how to use it?

    Regards,

SASA

It's not clear to me whether you have changed the communication channel on the remote device or on your PC.

There are modules that create a virtual com port on top of an ethernet connection (e.g we are succesfully using this one by Moxa): with them you can continue using your OpenComConfig and related commands and the driver of the module will drive them through the network.

On the other hand, if you have changed the communications interface on the remote device you will need to adapt your software accordingly; the TCP library includes functions you can use for that.

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.
