imgPlot() displays blank video from distribution kit install

Environment: NI-IMAQ with LabWindows/CVI on Windows

We have developed a video data acquistion and display program using NI-IMAQ and LabWindows/CVI. Now we would like to distribute the application for display-only use for users to view our data files. However, the program from the install kit shows only a blank white square where the video frame should be.

On our development computers, the program installs and runs fine.

We are using imgPlot() to display the data. Is there something specific we need to change in generating the distribution kit so the display will work?

How have others been able to display image/video data in a distributable form?

Thanks much.

Make sure that you have installed the same version of NI-IMAQ on the computer where you are running the executable. As long as you are not using the NI Vision software, there isn't anything else that needs to be done to run the program. If you are using the Vision software, you will need to use the IMAQ Vision Deployment Engine, discussed here:

Hope this helps.

We have verified that installing NI-IMAQ on the problem computers resolves the display problem. However, we had hoped the users of our data would be able to use the display feature to look at the images (collected with NI 1422 boards). How can we get the NI-IMAQ display component in a distribution package? A separate install would seem to imply that all our users would have to purchase NI-IMAQ in order to look at the data.

NI-IMAQ is a free download off the website - when distributing applications, you can also install the driver for free.
If you want the driver to install alongside the executable, you can create a batch file. Here is a document that discusses how to do this:

Best of luck-
