Update Service keeps all updates on disk

Solved!
Go to solution

Dear CVI users,

if you are using NI Update Service please be aware that all downloaded updates remain on disk even after installation. After one or two years this may easily reach 10 GB of disk space if one is also using DAQ and other drivers.

I found out only yesterday - the updates are located in Program Data/National Instruments/Update Service/Installers/.

If NI is listening I would suggest adding an option to Update Service to remove these folders after successful installation of the update.

Hi Wolfgang,

I think this topic was addressed previously on another thread:

Is it safe to delete old Update Service installers?

https://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Is-it-safe-to-delete-old-Update-Service-installers/td-p/2513294

However if you still want NI to take action, I would encourage you to post this idea on IdeaExchange, so that it can be prioritized by other NI users and eventually got considered from R&D:

LabWindows/CVI Idea Exchange

Hi bavci,

Thanks for the link (I usually do not search in LabVIEW forums...Smiley Wink).

Also thanks for the encouragement for posting in the Idea Exchange, but as you may have noted it is dead since three years (and my respective comment has not been addressed by NI in the past Smiley Frustrated)...; in addition I have more urgent wishes there Smiley Happy
