Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX)

In the LabWindows/CVI getting started manual page 10-2 discussing GPIB it says to open the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) and expand MySystem>>Software>>488 but there is nothing that states how to open MAX. I can't find it. Also, in the GPIB Analyzer User Manual page 1-3 it says to open MAX by selecting Start>>Programs>>National Instruments>>NI-488.2>>Explore GPIB but there is no sub menu for NI-488.2 under the National Instruments folder.

If you have installed the NI-DAQ software you should be able to find Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) by following Start->Programs->National Instruments->Measurement & Automation. If you do not have NI-DAQ software you can download the latest version at this link.

With regards to your second question you should already have the NI-488.2 software that came with your GPIB hardware. If it is installed on your machine then you should be able to follow Start->Programs->National Instruments->NI-488.2. If you do not have this software you may want to contact National Instruments to obtain it. Good luck!
