LabWindows/CVI 5.5 with Run-Time Engine 6.0

Hi,

I'm using the 5.5 version. An installataion of instrument driver
requires a VISA driver 2.6.0.

The VISA 2.6.0 indicates (in the readme.txt) that it requires
LabWindows/CVI Engine 6.0. It will install one if I don't have it in
my system. The questions are:
a) Can I run Engine 6.0 and development 5.5? What is the affect of
such combination?
b) Shall I be better off, just to use the existence NI-VISA software
(2.5.2)? (I assume that some functions will not operate but then, I
may never be using those functions).

Thanks

Hello

The CVI Run-time is fully backwards compatible, so you would have no problems using the CVI 5.5 development enviornment with the CVI 6.0 run-time.

It's always better to grab the newest driver software, mainly because it might contain not only newer functions, but fixes and speed improvements. However, if you are unsure, I could install it on a test machine and make sure everything works ( which it most probably will)

I've always used CVI 5.5, but I created one application using CVI6.0 RTE, only for testing purpose, but now I need to use cviauto.dll (with DataSocket) and when I try to debug an dll version error comes up.

How can I uninstall the cvi6.0 RTE?
What else can I do?
