Datasocket OPC

Hi every body...

I'm not new to CVI... but in Datascket and OPC I am...

When I practice with the sample distribute with CVI... the you can select the OPC Server you want... I can't...

Now in the function panel of the function SelcetURL... it tells mthat I need to have "Remote registry service" install on my machine... and I don't know what it is...

So can anyone direct me on where to find the remote registry service... so I can install it...

Best Regards

Hi Steph,

I am guessing you are using a Windows 98 or Windows 95 machine, since NT and 2000 do install the Remote Registry Service automatically. So If I am correct, follow this procedure :

To browse and connect to a remote OPC server in Windows 98/95 it is necessary to install Remote Registry Services.
This is free and should be available on the Windows 98/95 CD. The following step describe how to do this:

From the desktop, right click on Network Neighborhood then on Properties...

Click on Add... From the Configuration tab

Double click on Service

Click on Have Disk...

Make sure your Windows 95 CD in inserted in the CDROM and click on Browse...

Browse to the directory \admin\nettools\remotereg\ (on windows 98 it would be \tools\reskit\n
etadmin\remotreg)

The .inf file in that directory will install Remote registry services.

Sometimes Windows 95 complains that it can't find some file. Tell it to look in the \Win95 Directory on the distribution CD.

I hope it helps

Best Regards
