Convert PDF To Jpeg ?

Solved!
Go to solution

Hi

I have been looking around for ways to display a pdf in CVI with out an external program to no success.

I then looked into converting a pdf to an image file.

I found plenty of them but none of them are free and they are exspensive.

Is there a way of converting a pdf to and image for free?

Is it possible to convert the pdf to an image using Haru which i use to create the pdf?

Thanks

Shako

You haven't been looking in the right places then.
if I type pdf[TAB] under linux I get:
pdf2dsc pdf2ps pdffonts pdfimages pdfinfo pdfopt pdftoabw
pdftohtml pdftoppm pdftops pdftotext

Some of which I'm sure fit you bill.
Most are probably available (or easy to compile) on Windows.

It looks as though there are a number of free pdf to image converters that show up on google. I've not used any though so it would be hard to gauge quality and ease of use.

Thanks for the replys.

I am currently using muPDF - pdfdraw.exe to convert my pdf to a png file.

The program is a command line application and work ok for what i need.

I was hoping for something like Haru PDF lib ,which is easy to use, which i could use to manipulate an exsiting pdf.

If i do find a suitable LIB i will let you know.

I've seen many of these. All though this one is quite nice.

What im looking for is something i can run directly in my CVI application. At the moment i use muPDF because there is no installation and its a single command line exe.

What my program does is use Haru PDF to create a pdf, i then convert the pdf to an image to display in cvi.

If i could get some library to display the pdf i would prefer to do that, but i could not find any.

Despite the fact that you were initially searching for a solution that does not rely on any separate application, you are actually using one separate application to perform the conversion.

At this point, you could consider to integrate Adobe Reader in your CVI application: the reader gets installed on almost every machine in the world and can be integrated in a CVI application via an ActiveX interface.

In this document I show how this can be easily done: you may want to take a look at it.

Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

Hi sorry for not updating this.

Im using a program called pdfdraw to convert the PDF to and image. Its a command based program and its easy to use via CVI.

All you need to do to display this to the user is to place the PDF in a canvas and there you go.
