Hello,
I have installed CVI2013 SP2 (download version) on a brand new Win7 64 bit system. I remember to have chosen to not install Device Drivers.
So I am surprised that in the Library menu I find the VXI, the GPIB, the RS232 and the VISA libraries undimmed (NI-DAQ and NI-CAN are dimmed, as expected).
i am particularly suprised about the VXI libray which (according to help) does not belong to the Standard Libraries
Now, when starting CVI, I receive a library load error: Cannot find 64-bit program file for library 'VXI Library'.
As default, in the Customize Libray Menu all libraries are selected - this does not seem to make much sense if, for example, the NI-CAN or NI-DAQ libraries are not installed... Also, I am wondering why I cannot deselect RS-232 and VISA...

Hi Wolfgang,
Are you asking whether this is a new behavior, or are you providing feedback for improvement? These behaviors do not appear different from previous versions of LabWindows/CVI.
Thanks,

Hi Daniel,
no, this was no comparison with earlier versions...
While usually I upgrade the software keeping the hardware this time I had set up a completely new system and was surprised... so yes, this was kind of feedback

So maybe I'll better rephrase my comments / questions:
- I did not understand why some libraries are selected in CVI even if there are no suitable device drivers (e.g. GPIB, VXI)
- right now installing CVI results in an error because VXI is selected by default while there is no 64 bit library... no big deal but if this is the first experience of a new user of CVI...
- Personally I also find it not immediately clear why I can select / deselect GPIB but not RS232
Altogether no big deal, just a feedback
