CVI 2013 SP1 crashes when opening file

Solved!
Go to solution

LabWindows 2013 SP1 has suddenly stopped functioning on my PC.  Any time I try to open a file, either by clicking Browse on the welcome page, clicking the File Open icon, or selecting File - Open or File - Save As from the main menu, I get a popup Windows message that says "LabWindows/CVI 2013 has stopped working".

Clicking on "Show problem details" shows this:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name: BEX
  Application Name: cvi.exe
  Application Version: 13.0.1.201
  Application Timestamp: 52d6eeab

These values are always the same.

I am running Windows 7 Professional, SP 1.

Hi,

Were there any noticeable changes to your PC between the time CVI was functional and non-functional? Also, does this only happen when opening a particular project, or does this happen with any project?

If this problem is specific to CVI and not a particular project, you should try a Force Reinstall to overwrite any potentially corrupted files.

It happens with any project.

I haven't installed any new programs on my PC, but our I.T. department periodically deploys patches onto our machines, so something could have changed that I'm not aware of.

If you just did a normal install of CVI 2015, it might still be worth trying a force reinstall. It's possible that there is a corrupted CVI 2013 file somewhere.

Taking information from a similar post here, it seems like this issue could be specific to your Windows configuration.

Would you mind posting what you see in <SysWOW64>\cvirte\, including all files and versions?

I uninstalled all LabWindows versions and all other National Instruments software from my PC, rebooted, and reinstalled the most recent version (2015) and the 8.1 SDK.  This appears to have fixed the problem.
