vibration impact analysis

Hi guys

i am looking to get some help. i'm fairly new to labview, so bare with me. I have a signal generated by a VI. That is recreating an impact on a lever attached at one end. i am having trouble stopping the acquision stage when an impact occurs in a while loop. The data type generated by the VI is in a waveform. Any help would be really appreciated.

Can you post the VI in question?

It's hard to advise without seeing what you're doing.
