unable to clean up - nothing happens on ctrl-u or button press

Dear users,

I am unable to auto-clean up my code in the block diagram. I was in the process of reducing the code in the VI (shifting code to subVIs) and I realised later on, that I am not able to clean up.

It worked earlier. There is also an old-old version of the file, which I am able to clean up. This is only for reporting that there was a revision, for which the clean up worked. I would like to prevent reverting to it, and keep the new version.

I examined the following:

- no broken wire in comment structures (was an issue in LV pre-2013);

- I can clean up selections or selected wires;

What else should I check, please?

p.s. I am not able to upload the project/file for [due to complexity and confidentiality]

I am able to copy all the code to a new VI and clean up that VI. I lost the revision number 😞 but I can live with that, if no other solution is possible.

I've found out the reason, for which I am unable to clean up. Grab the VIs below an try it yourself.

Spoiler
When the arrow of a floating comment points to a node (in my case, to the input node of a variable and the CASE structure), the Clean-up tool is puzzled.
