Thanks. I agree about not needing to close a Static Reference -- sometimes I just get carried away. I do like to have the explicit "This VI" wired into the VI Property Node for "self-documentation" purposes (for myself, six months later when I forgot what I was doing earlier, and for colleagues/students who are trying to understand my code) -- I figure it "costs" a trivial amount of space, probably an even more trivial amount of CPU time, but promotes "instant understanding" of the reference of the Property Node (answering, for example, the question "Which VI?").
