reading subset of data from LVM file

I'm recording multi-channel data from a DAQ device with the 'Write LVM File' vi. After recording we want to 'play-back' the data to a graph display and select certain parts of the dataset interactively (eg setting start and stop time with cursors). The selected part will then be exported to a spreadsheet file. Is there any known example which we could adapt to our needs?

which version of LabVIEW are you currently using?
I've knocked up an example in LV 7.
