"Latch When Released" won't work

There is no good reason to use Latch when Released with Mouse Up.  The proper thing to use is the Value Change Event.

Thanks for making this clear.

It was not my code but it's what Maxon Motor published as "Example_Demo.vi" for the cotrol of the Epos2 motor drive.

Also LabVIEW gives a warning when you choose "Value change" with a latching control - this is missleading (though necessary)

As there are a few caveats with latching it would be nice to have a dedicated help entry.
